After she lost her life partner, our client had a clear ‘downsize’ brief: to re-design her recent property purchase – a 4-storey Victorian villa that had been rather badly separated into 2 maisonettes.
From this she wanted to achieve a lettable unit for her own economic sustainability whilst creating an uplifting double-storey garden apartment in which she could live, host her food-awards enterprise, welcome modest audiences to her local music salon and pursue her interest as a keen gardener.
We produced a masterplan which was then procured in two phases. Completion of the first housed her in the upper maisonette, subsequently let, while in this project we recycled and extended the lower two floors and garden for her own long-term use.

“I had spoken to a couple of different firms before I met Robert Dye and his team but they were the first who seemed to understand immediately what I was trying to achieve. And from then on it was a harmonious and very enjoyable collaboration. Robert Dye recommended the full team and without exception, they were excellent.”
