We’re delighted that Live and Let House has been shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit and Reuse Awards 2025.
This retrofit project transforms a poorly subdivided, semi-detached 4-storey Victorian villa into a sustainable and flexible home for our client, shaped around her passions for food, music, and gardening. Delivered through a two-phase masterplan, the project redivided the units and carefully sequenced the works to meet her living brief whilst ensuring long-term sustainability. We upgraded her upper maisonette including air-source heating for the building alongside a solar array, for her to move into while the lower maisonette and grounds were being modernised.
Avoiding large-scale demolition or extension in the lower maisonette, we reworked the internal layout investing in deep retrofit and upgrade, with reduced energy use. We created bright, joyful modern space that celebrates its architectural heritage and that she successfully uses for live music salons and externally for a community gardening project.
Have a look at the Music Salon’s website: great events and a chance to experience the architecture!
