Tight Sites, Big Ideas: Mews Housing in Camberwell

We were appointed to carry out the feasibility and planning reports for the development of two mews houses in Camberwell, working with the same developer as on our previous project at nearby Madeline Terrace. Building on that experience, we brought a strong understanding of the local context and planning approach, helping shape a scheme that makes smart use of a tight urban site.

The project reflects a contemporary take on mews-style living, with innovative designs tailored to the constraints and character of the area. Though the tender stage was later developed by Javens Design, we lead the design during the early design evolution and through the planning process.

We’ve since returned to see the completed build, which sits comfortably within its surroundings. As is often the case with projects of this nature, a few minor changes took place during construction, but the core vision remained intact.

We’re continuing to work on more projects nearby — helping to define a thoughtful, modern architectural language for backland and infill sites in Camberwell.
